AIB All Ireland Club Senior Football Final

Corofin (Galway) v Kilcoo (Down), Croke Park, 4pm

By Cian O'Connell

In Kilcoo and Corofin dominates the agenda so this Croke Park decider involves two ultra passionate clubs.

Corofin have set a scary standard standard since returning to national prominence five years ago.

In that time three All Ireland titles have been collected. The aggregate winning margin in the finals stands at a remarkable 37 points

That Slaughtneil, Nemo Rangers, and Dr Crokes were the beaten foes merely adds to the achievement.

Still the respect in Corofin for Kilcoo's exploits runs deep. Corofin know what it is like to generate momentum and gain confidence which is precisely what Kilcoo have managed.

On the sideline Mickey Moran and Conleth Gilligan bring guile and knowledge. A meaningful connection has been forged with a much craved Ulster title gathered.

Overcoming Ballyboden St Enda's meant another prized scalp was added

The speed and desire of the Branagans to pop forward at every available opportunity and the threat of Jerome Johnston is well documented.

Conor Laverty's thoughtfulness provides a reminder of how relevant skill and style will always be, regardless of the conditions.

Corofin, though, aren't exactly short on craft either. Ian Burke's invention, the Farragher's football, Micheal Lundy's willingness, Jason Leonard's finishing, and the breadth of Gary Sice's game ensures a most talented attacking unit returns to GAA headquarters.

Renowned for their homework and preparation Corofin will be fully aware of the demanding questions Kilcoo can pose.

The spirit and stamina demonstrated by Kilcoo throughout this most rewarding of adventures means they head to the capital heartened.

It should be interesting.
