Peter Darby RIP

Peter Darby captained Meath to the 1967 All-Ireland SFC.

Peter Darby captained Meath to the 1967 All-Ireland SFC.

The death has occurred of Meath GAA legend, Peter Darby, who captained the county’s 1967 All-Ireland winning football team.

Darby was corner-back on that team and also hurled for the county with great distinction.

The dual star won five County senior hurling championships with Trim and also captained his club to their only ever Keegan Cup in 1962.

With the Meath footballers, he also won three Leinster senior championships and an O’Byrne Cup, while he won a Division 1 NHL medal with the county hurlers in 1962.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
