Niall Carew has been ratified as the new Carlow senior football manager.

The hugely popular Turlough O'Brien recently stepped down and will be replaced by Carew.

Ger Brennan, who returned to Dublin SFC action with St Vincent's at the weekend, will be involved in Carew's backroom team.

Carew is an experienced figure at inter-county level acting as a selector for Kildare before spells in charge of Waterford and Sligo.
