Mickey Harte, right, and Gavin Devlin will take charge of the Derry senior footballers for the 2024 season.

Derry GAA confirmed this evening they have appointed Mickey Harte as their new county senior football team manager with Gavin Devlin as his right-hand man.

The duo spent the last three seasons in the same roles with the Louth county senior footballers, leading them to back to back promotions in the Allianz Football League and a Leinster SFC Final appearance this year.

Harte, of course, previously managed his native Tyrone to three All-Ireland senior titles, six Ulster senior championships, and one Allianz Football League Division 1 title.

He replaces Ciaran Meenagh who took over as manager for this year's Ulster final victory against Armagh after Rory Gallagher stepped aside.

Derry GAA released the following statement this evening: "Following Tuesday night’s meeting of Coiste Chontae Dhoire, Derry GAA are pleased to announce the senior football management team for the incoming year.

"Multiple All-Ireland winning manager Mickey Harte has been appointed on a three year term, and will lead a management team including Gavin Devlin. Further details about the backroom team will be confirmed in due course.

"We wish both the management team and playing panel every success for the 2024 season."
