Donegal and Tyrone to clash in 2020 Ulster SFC Quarter-Finals

The draw for the 2020 Ulster Senior Football Championship has pitted great rivals Donegal and Tyrone against one another in the Quarter-Finals, with home advantage going to Donegal.

Between them the two Ulster heavyweights have won nine of the last 11 provincial titles and the last four in a row.

It’s not the only the only fascinating clash thrown up by this morning’s draw.

Seamus ‘Banty’ McEnaney’s second spell in charge of his native Monaghan will begin with a mouth-watering derby clash against neighbours Cavan in the preliminary round.

Speaking on Radio 1 this morning, former Tyrone captain Sean Cavanagh admitted there’s a lot to look forward to.

“The Ulster Championship never seems to disappoint," said Cavanagh. "Yet again when you're looking at the match-ups, the Monaghan v Cavan game in the Preliminary Round, obviously they had a massive clash last year.

“Banty McEnaney back in charge in Monaghan with a new backroom team, that's a real mouth-watering clash for sure.

“The most fascinating game this year in the Ulster Championship was probably the meeting of Tyrone and Donegal and next year Tyrone again will have to head up to Ballybofey. We haven't had a great record up there, but that's another huge game.

“And, look, Armagh v Derry, Armagh are probably another team that are making real strides. Won their first Ulster Championship game this year for the first time in four or five years and under Kieran McGeeney there's a sense that there's a team building that can challenge for an Ulster title for the first time since 2008.

“To be drawn on the same side as Tyrone and Donegal I'm sure disappoints them, but, sure, look, they'll be hoping to build a team to challenge.
