Connacht FBD League

GALWAY 1-10 MAYO 1-9

Despite three late Galway sending offs at Elverys MacHale Park, Kevin Walsh's team emerged with the Connacht FBD League spoils.

Trailing by 1-8 to 0-6 early in the second half, Galway came thundering back to eke out a narrow victory.

In demanding weather conditions Mayo led at the interval by 0-8 to 0-6.

Shane Nally, Brian Reape, Kevin McLoughlin, and Matthew Ruane all kicked good points for the Green and Red in the opening period.

Four minutes after the restart Peter Naughton added a goal for Mayo, who edged five points clear, but Galway responded impressively.

Padraic Cunningham landed two points, while Patrick Sweeney also bagged a goal as Galway struck 1-4 without reply.

In a dramatic finish Galway had substitute Damien Comer, Sean Mulkerrins, and Sean Andy O'Ceallaigh red carded, but the Tribesmen held out.
