Sean Cavanagh looks set to feature for Tyrone again in 2017.
Having captained Tyrone this year Cavanagh hopes to be involved with Mickey Harte's team for a 16th campaign.
"I'm a lucky man. Hope to be fit & healthy enough to pull on my beloved Red Hand jersey in 2017. Couldn't finish like that..," Cavanagh tweeted on Tuesday.
Cavanagh, who made his Tyrone debut in 2002, has enjoyed an illustrious career winning three All Ireland titles, five Ulster Championships, two Allianz Football Leagues, and five All Stars.
In April speaking ahead of Tyrone's Allianz Football League Division Two decider against Cavan Cavanagh acknowledged that he expected to retire at the end of this summer.
"I suppose I’m 33 now and like anything in life the injuries start niggling at you a wee bit," Cavanagh said.
"I’m lucky enough at the moment that I’m in pretty good shape. But it just gets tougher; it gets tougher every year for the time commitment and the injuries and everything to do with it. You always think about these things in the off-season, but I’d say there’s a fair chance it will be."
Tyrone supporters, though, will be hugely encouraged that Cavanagh is ready to commit to the Red Hands cause once more.
While Tyrone's 2016 adventure eventually ended in disappointment following an All Ireland Quarter-Final loss to Mayo Cavanagh was an influential figure in their first Ulster Championship triumph since 2010.
