Barry Moran has retired from inter-county football.

Mayo GAA have confirmed that the Castlebar Mitchels clubman will no longer be involved with the Green and Red outfit.

Moran made 70 appearances for Mayo, 35 in the Allianz League, and 35 in the Championship.

During his Mayo career Moran won six Connacht titles and won an All Ireland Under 21 medal in 2006.

Mayo manager Stephen Rochford praised Moran's service. "Barry has had a long and distinguished career in the Mayo jersey and has been part of a Mayo team that reached exceptionally high standards over many years," Rochford remarked.

"I know he will continue to excel in the colours of Castlebar Mitchels and I thank him most sincerely for his unwavering commitment to Mayo football over the past three years, and prior to that right back to his senior debut as a young player."
