Two additional time points from Donnchadh Walsh effectively guided Kerry into next Sunday's League Final - that and the perfect storm of results and scores elsewhere. With Dublin beating Monaghan and Mayo getting the better of Donegal, Kerry knew they had to win well, and in the end they won by seven to set up another match with Dublin.

Once Mikey Geaney goaled for Kerry in the third minute there only ever looked like one winner in Killarney as the home side completely dismantled a flat Tyrone side.

That the visitors didn't score from play in the first half, and only managed two points from play from second half substitute David Mulgrew, said it all about Tyrone's challenge. But that should take nothing away from Kerry who were ruthless in their approach and execution.

The first half lacked all that is usually associated with Kerry versus Tyrone contests as the hosts led from gun to tape once Geaney found the net after three minutes.

Walsh followed with the first of his three first half points from play and the first of Paul Geaney's five first half frees made it 1-2 to 0-0 after five minutes.

It was 1-4 to 0-2 after 15 minutes with Sean Cavanagh posting two frees for Tyrone, who were cleaned out in midfield by the imperious David Moran.

Barry John Keane missed a good goal chance in the eighth minute and Darren McCurry drew a smart save from Brendan Kealy at the other end in the 16th minute, but Kerry were relentless and two Paul Geaney frees and points from play from Mikey Geaney and Walsh made it 1-8 to 0-3 after 22 minutes.

Sean Cavanagh and Peter Harte (two) converted late frees to leave it 1-12 to 0-6 at the interval.

Tyrone got a little boost early in the second half when Harte finished smartly past Kealy for his and Tyrone's first goal but Kerry responded with points from Keane and Tadhg Morley to lead 1-15 to 1-7 by the 50th minute.

Kerry were still eight ahead when Harte converted from the penalty spot after Frank Burns was fouled by Ronan Shanahan, and with the scoring permutations coming down to the finest of margins Kerry needed a couple of late scores to boost their differential, with man of the match Walsh duly obliging.
