The Galway star received 5,866 votes on the GAA’s Official Instagram page which put him ahead of Donegal's Michael Murphy (5,108) and Meath's Conor Duke (2,967).

A thrilling All-Ireland SFC clash involving Armagh and Galway went the distance with Shane Walsh excelling for Pádraic Joyce's outfit. Walsh was in brilliant form, scoring nine points from a range of distances and angles, including the last gasp winner.
Michael Murphy (Donegal)
When Donegal required inspiration against Mayo, it was supplied by talisman Michael Murphy. The Glenswilly clubman contributed five points and made other crucial plays in a gripping game.
Conor Duke (Meath)
It has been a hugely encouraging campaign for Meath with Conor Duke outstanding in Saturday's stunning victory over Kerry. Duke was prominent for the Royals throughout, scoring five points.
