The Louth captain received 7,724 votes on the GAA’s Official Instagram page which put him ahead of Donegal's Michael Murphy (5,849) and Westmeath's Luke Loughlin (3,694).

It was a memorable Sunday afternoon at Croke Park for Louth as captain Sam Mulroy led by example in a dramatic Leinster SFC Final win over neighbours Meath. Murloy scored 1-7, including a crucial late two pointer from a free, as Louth prevailed at GAA headquarters.
