Round-up: Weekend's senior club championship action

It was a hectic weekend of club championship action with exciting county senior finals taking place in both codes.

There was also plenty of other knockout drama.

Antrim

Dunloy defeated Erins Own, Cargin in the Antrim SFC Final. Click here for a match report.

Armagh

In the Armagh SHC Final, Middletown produced a brilliant second half display to defeat Céide Lámh Dhearg. Click here for a match report.

There was no shortage of SFC Semi-Final drama either as Cullyhana staged a remarkable comeback mission against Crossmaglen Rangers to set up a novel decider against Madden.

At one stage, Cullyhana trailed by 10 points, but they recovered to win, 1-21 to 0-23 as Aidan Nugent's two point free proved to be a crucial score.

Cian McConville and Aaron O'Neill were effective for Cross, who led by 0-15 to 0-8 at half-time. That lead was extended to 0-19 to 0-9, but a Shea Hoey goal gave Cullyhana hope and they finished strongly.

Madden have advanced to a first final since 1998 following a 0-14 to 0-11 success over Clann Eireann.

Niall Grimley and Conor Grimley landed important scores as Madden edged 0-10 to 0-4 ahead at the interval. Clann Eireann posed stern questions in the second period, but Madden survived.

Carlow

Rathvilly were always in control against Bagenalstown Gaels in Sunday's Carlow SFC Semi-Final replay, emerging 1-22 to 1-8 victors.

Brian Smith and Conor Doyle starred in the first half for Rathvilly, who lead 0-14 to 1-6 at the turnaround.

Doyle, who finished with 1-6, added a goal to seal the deal. In the relegation decider, Éire Óg defeated Tinryland.

Cavan

Kingscourt Stars overcame Gowna in the Cavan SFC Final. Click here for a match report.

Clare

Éire Óg made it a double success in Clare, beating St Joseph's Doora-Barefield in the SFC decider. Click here for a match report.

Cork

Old rivals Nemo Rangers and St Finbarr's will contest the Cork SFC Final.

Nemo Rangers edged out Newcestown 2-14 to 0-19 after an extra-time thriller.

Late points from Luke Horgan and Mark Cronin, who contributed 0-9, were critical for Nemo.

Stephen Sherlock was at his brilliant best, scoring 1-9, in the Barrs 2-13 to 1-10 triumph over Ballincollig.

Derry

O'Donovan Rossa and Newbridge advanced to the Derry SFC Final.

Goals from Conor McCluskey, Caolan (2), Higgins, and Zach Gavigan helped O'Donovan Rossa to a splendid 4-15 to 1-14 success over Glen.

Newbridge also enjoyed an encouraging victory in the penultimate round, beating Slaughtneil 0-21 to 1-16.

Conleth McGrogan and Conor McAteer struck important two pointers for Newbridge, who led 0-14 to 0-8 at half-time.

Shane McGuigan netted a goal to give Slaughtneil hope, but Conor Doherty and Padraig McGrogan replied with crucial points.

Donegal

A dramatic Donegal SFC unfolded with Naomh Conaill edging out Gaoth Dobhair. Click here for a match report.

Down

Ballygalget and Portaferry will meet in the Down SHC Final, a repeat of last year's decider.

Poartaferry were convincing 1-31 to 1-10 winners over Bredagh, while Ballygalget defeated Ballycran 3-18 to 2-13.

Dublin

Lucan Sarsfields and Na Fianna will contest the Dublin SHC Final.

A fine first half performance was vital for Lucan Sarsfields, who beat Ballyboden St Enda's 1-21 to 1-17.

Eight opening points from Ben Coffey nudged Lucan into a commanding 0-16 to 0-8 interval lead at Parnell Park.

Darragh Kenny netted a 33rd minute penalty for Ballyboden, but Lucan remained composed.

Coffey responded with a goal from a penalty for Lucan, who will feature in a first senior decider in 12 years.

A daunting task awaits against an accomplished Na Fianna outfit, who enjoyed a 2-22 to 0-17 triumph over Kilmacud Crokes.

AJ Murphy and Brian Ryan struck goals for the AIB All-Ireland club champions.

Galway

Salthill-Knocknacarra and Maigh Cuilinn advanced to the Galway SFC Final. Click here for a round-up of Saturday's semi-final double header at Pearse Stadium.

Kerry

It was another busy weekend in Kerry with the SFC Semi-Final draw throwing up some interesting encounters.

In the last four Rathmore will meet Austin Stacks, while Mid Kerry are set to clash with Dingle.

On Sunday, Dingle were 1-16 to 0-13 winners over West Kerry, while Mid Kerry defeated Spa 1-28 to 2-9.

The previous day Austin Stacks defeated Kenmare Shamrocks 1-19 to 0-15, and Rathmore were hugely impressive in a 1-21 to 0-9 win over East Kerry.

Kildare

Naas retained the Kildare SHC title, defeating Maynooth in the decider. Click here for a match report.

Kilkenny

Ballyhale Shamrocks and O'Loughlin Gaels will meet in the Kilkenny SHC Final.

Goalkeeper Dean Mason made some stunning saves in the closing stages as Ballyhale defeated Dicksboro, 0-21 to 1-16.

TJ Reid scored 0-10, while Adrian Mullen (0-4) and Eoin Cody (0-3) were other key figures in Shamrocks' success.

O'Louhglin's also won a thriller, eventually overcoming Mullinavat 1-20 to 2-16.

Ger Malone's goal for Mullinavat with 10 minutes remaining set up a hectic finish, but O'Loughlin's held on.

John Walsh's goal from a ninth minute penalty gave Mullinavat encouragement, but Owen Wall replied with a major for O'Loughlin's.

Mark Bergin struck eight points, while Fionan Mackessy excelled too, clipping four, including three from play as O'Loughlin's advanced.

Laois

A thrilling draw took place in the Laois SFC Final between Portarlington and Courtwood. Click here for a match report.

Leitrim

Ballinamore Seán O'Heslins defeated Fenagh St Cailins 2-13 to 0-10 in Sunday's Leitrim SFC Semi-Final replay.

Michael McKiernan netted a first quarter goal for Ballinamore, who led 1-6 to 0-5 at half-time.

Tom Prior added a second half major for Ballinamore, who face Leitrim Gaels in the Leitrim SFC Final next Sunday.

Limerick

Holders Adare and Newcastle West have advanced directly to the Limerick SFC Semi-Finals following the conclusion of the group phase.

In the Quarter-Finals, Mungret St Paul's will meet Monaleen, while Fr Casey's face St Kieran's.

Relegation wise, Ballylanders clash with Oola in one Semi-Final with Kildimo-Pallaskenry set to clash with Na Piarsaigh.

London

Kilburn Gaels and St Gabriel's will contest the London SHC Final.

On Saturday, Kilburn defeated Brothers Pearse 0-17 to 1-12, while St Gabriel's were comfortable 4-17 to 0-16 victors against Seán Treacys.

Longford

Emmet Óg Killoe scored a late point to defeat Colmcille in the Longford SFC Final. Click here for a match report.

Louth

Andy McDonnell starred for Newtown Blues in a 0-18 to 0-16 Louth SFC Semi-Final win over Dreadnots.

McDonnell scored 0-6, while Ciaran Downey was another key figure with three points for the winners.

Mayo

It was another lively weekend in Mayo with Ballina Stephenites and Westport earning SFC Semi-Final wins.

Frank Irwin was in great form for the three-in-a-row chasing Stephenites, who beat Knockmore 1-12 to 0-8.

Stephenites, with Irwin and Conor McStay effective, led 0-6 to 0-2 at half-time.

Luke Jordan's goal sealed the deal as Ballina earned another impressive victory.

The other last four clash was a compelling contest with Westport defeating an emerging Crossmolina outfit, 1-24 to 1-20, after extra-time.

Kevin Keane supplied two vital scores for Westport, who pulled clear in the closing stages.

Kobe McDonald was outstanding once again for Crossmolina, but Westport, with Lee Keegan still going strong, prevailed.

Meath

Summerhill enjoyed an impressive Meath SFC Final win over Ratoath. Click here for a match report.

Monaghan

Inniskeen and Scotstown will meet in the Monaghan SFC Final.

Despite falling five points behind early on, Inniskeen recovered to defeat Magheracloone 0-23 to 0-12.

Sean Jones landed some vital scores as John McEntee's charges advanced.

Scotstown were 2-15 to 1-12 winners over Clontibret with a late two pointer from Rory Beggan sealing the victory.

Darragh Murphy and Jack McCarron netted goals for Scotstown.

Sligo

Coolera-Strandhill and Shamrock Gaels played out an exciting draw in the Sligo SFC Final. Click here for a match report.

Tipperary

Loughmore-Castleiney and Nenagh Éire Óg will meet in the Tipperary SHC Final.

Holders Loughmore-Castleiney beat Holycross-Ballycahill 1-18 to 0-15 on Saturday.

John McGrath nailed nine points from frees with Noel McGrath supplying five from play. Ciaran McCormack was Loughmore-Castleiney's goalscorer.

On Sunday, Nenagh Éire Óg were similarly effective when defeating Drom-Inch 1-20 to 1-12.

Sam O'Farrell fired over nine points for Éire Óg, while Ben West struck 1-3.

Tyrone

Trillick knocked out AIB Ulster Club champions Errigal Ciaran from the Tyrone SFC.

Trillick won 1-13 to 1-11 at O'Neill's Healy Park.

Despite conceding an early goal to Ruairi Canavan, Trillicl recovered, restoring parity courtesy of a major from a James Garrity penalty.

Daire Gallagher and James Garrity scored late points as Trillick triumphed.

Carrickmore and Loughmacrory finished level in the other last four clash, 1-16 to 0-19.

Tiarnan Loughran netted a goal for Carrickmore, who still trailed 0-11 to 1-5 at the break with Loughmacrory's Eoin McElholm prominent.

Late on, Carrickmore edged ahead, but Pauric Meenagh kicked over a pressure free to force a replay.

Waterford

The Waterford SFC Semi-Finals will take place next weekend.

The Nire will meet Gaultier on Saturday evening, while Sunday's fixture at Cappoquin Logistics Fraher Field features Rathgormack and Abbeyside/Ballinacourty.

In the Quarter-Finals, Gaultier defeated Roanmore 1-13 to 1-3, while Abbeyside/Ballinacourty beat Kilrossanty 2-13 to 0-14.

Westmeath

The Downs and Coralstown-Kinnegad will meet in the Westmeath SFC Final.

The Downs were convincing 1-20 to 1-9 winners over Mullingar Shamrocks on Sunday.

On Saturday, Coralstown-Kinnegad produced a smashing performance to defeat St Loman's 1-20 to 1-16.

Wexford

Rathnure and St Martin's will meet in the Wexford SHC Final.

It will be Rathnure's first decider since 2011, following a stirring 0-21 to 1-15 win over Naomh Eanna.

In the second half substitute Shane Lawlor, AJ Redmond, and Luke Codd clipped crucial scores for Rathnure, who survived a late goal from Naomh Eanna's Cathal Dunbar.

St Martin's were 1-22 to 3-9 victors over Ferns St Aidan's.

Rory O'Connor registered 0-10 for Martin's and also provided the assist for Mikey Coleman to score a valuable goal.

Wicklow
