Round-up: Weekend's club camogie action

It was a packed weekend of club Camogie action around Ireland, with 13 counties crowning their senior champions.

De La Salle got one over old foes Gailltír in the Waterford showpiece, with a 3-9 to 0-14 victory. First-half goals from Abby Flynn and Maggie Gostl set them on their way, as they held back a second-half fightback, with another green flag from Gostl getting them over the line.

There was a piece of history for De La Salle captain Keeley Corbett Barry, who became the Déise’s first dual player to win county senior titles as captain, after leading Comeragh Rangers to the football crown.

St Finbarr’s made it back-to-back Cork Championship titles, with a 0-15 to 0-9 win over St Catherine’s on Leeside.

County star Sorcha McCartan was Player of the Match, inspiring ‘The Barrs’ to victory with six points, while Orla Cotter led the fight for St Catherine’s.

Newcastle West are another team through to the Munster Championship, after defeating Monaleen, 1-22 to 0-5 in the Limerick showpiece.

2024 All-Ireland finalists Truagh Clonlara are back in the Clare Credit Unions Championship final, after a 3-19 to 1-15 victory over Feakle Killanena. They will face Inagh Kilnamona, who edged by Scariff Ogonnelloe, 2-10 to 1-9.

Meanwhile, Thurles Sarsfields and Clonoulty/Rossmore are into the FBD Insurance Tipperary Championship final. Sarsfields had too much for Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams, 5-22 to 1-7, while Clonoulty/Rossmore saw off Drom-Inch, 0-15 to 1-8.

Sarsfields are into the Galway final for the 10th consecutive occasion, after defeating recently-promoted Clarinbridge, 4-12 to 1-14. They will face Athenry, who secured their first final berth since 2009 with a 1-26 to 3-12 win over Davitts.

Oulart-The Ballagh downed St Martin’s in an epic Clearwater Construction Wexford Championship final, with injury-time points from Aideen Brennan and Shelley Kehoe snatching a 2-14 to 1-16 victory from the jaws of defeat to seal their first crown since 2022.

There was an upset in the David Smyth Catering Westmeath Championship final, as Clonkill denied 11-in-a-row chasing Raharney, 0-13 to 1-9.

St Vincent’s are back in the Go Ahead Dublin Championship final, after being pushed all the way by Naomh Jude in a 1-14 to 1-13 contest. They will face Lucan Sarsfields, who overcame Ballyboden St Enda’s, 1-15 to 0-14.

Slaughtneil collected another Errigal Group Derry Championship crown on Saturday, accounting for Swatragh, 2-16 to 1-7.

Loughgiel Shamrocks prevailed in the Northern Property Antrim Championship decider, beating Dunloy 4-11 to 1-17.

In Kildare, Naas completed the first leg of what proved to be a small-ball double this weekend, as they beat Maynooth in front of a large crowd at Cedral St Conleth’s Park in the Cúl Sliotars Championship final.

Birr are HQPhysio Offaly Championship winners, seeing off Shinrone, 3-18 to 1-10.

Elsewhere, Na Fianna and Kilmessan will contest the Bective Stud Meath Championship final, after wins over Kiltale and Killyon respectively.

Mount Leinster Rangers prevailed 2-8 to 0-6 against Myshall in the AZAP Print Carlow Championship final.

Meanwhile, reigning Junior All-Ireland champions, Knockananna (Wicklow) and Eglish (Tyrone) also secured county titles on Saturday.
