Derry 2-24 Antrim 1-2

Derry, Monaghan, Tyrone and Armagh stepped up their challenge for success with wins in the Ulster MFC round robin series.

Tyrone made it two wins from three with a resounding 2-12 to 0-4 defeat of Fermanagh at Belcoo.

They led by 1-9 to 0-2 at the interval, with Shea McDermott getting them off to the perfect start with an early goal.

The Red Hands dominated, claiming scores through Sean Corry, Liam McGeary, Lorcan McMurray and Jamie Concannon, while the home side responded with points from Daire Chapman and Dan O’Connor.

Concannon grabbed a second Tyrone goal nine minutes into the second half, and McMurray, Concannon, McGeary and Daire Devlin piled on the scores as they eased to a comfortable success.

Monaghan remain unbeaten after two games, picking up a second win at Clones, where they got the better of Down by 1-17 to 1-13.

They took an early foothold with a Killian Kearns goal and points from Cian Rafferty, Evan Treanor and Luke McKenna, and led by 1-8 to 1-4 at the break.

Rafferty and Kearns were the main marksmen, wth Lorcan Mone and Sean Hanratty also on target as they held of Down’s late surge.

In Group B, Armagh claimed their second win in as many outings, defeating Cavan by 2-11 to 1-9 at Kingspan Breffni Park.

Jack Loughran gave the Orchard lads the perfect start with a goal after just four minutes, and they added points through Fionn Toale, Shea Loughran and James McCooe.

The home side responded through Joshua Shehu and Nathan Quigley, but trailed by 1-5 to 0-2 at the break.

Cavan narrowed the gap to a single point as Shehu, Tadhg Sheils and Ultan O’Reilly all hit the target, but Aaron Garvey’s 39th minute goal swung the momentum back with the Orchard.

Charlie Fallon, Fiachara Brady and Ryan Nwaneri were all on target as Cavan battled strongly, but Armagh held out, protecting their lead with points from Oisin Gribben and Michael Walker.

Derry also have two wins from two outings, their latest an overwhelming 2-24 to 1-2 victory over Antrim at Dunsilly.

James Sargent top-scored for the Oak Leaf teenagers, who led by 2-13 to 0-1 at the interval, their other goal coming from Dylan Rocks, with Codi Rocks, Chris McCullagh and Gerard Dillon keeping the score-board ticking.
