Allianz Football League Division Three
Wexford 0-23 Laois 0-9
Down 0-18 Limerick 1-14
Wexford and Down recorded wins earlier today to go joint top of Division Two with full points after two games.
John Hegarty’s Wexford backed up a fine Round One win on the road against Fermanagh by overwhelming Laois at Chadwicks Wexford Park to run out comfortable 14 point winners.
Laois’ meagre tally of 0-9 will have Justin McNulty concerned while the bulk of Wexford’s scores came from Sean Nolan and Darragh Brooks, who both hit 0-7, with all of Brooks’ scores coming from placed balls and Nolan scoring two points from play.
Two point frees killed Laois with Wexford shooting four in total as they look towards a Round Three encounter away to Limerick.
Laois, who have just one point from two games after last weekend’s draw with Limerick, face Sligo at home in their next game.
Meanwhile, Shane Annett’s late point from a free handed Conor Laverty’s side a one point win on the road in Limerick.
Daniel Guinness showed great leadership for the second week in a row to hit a two pointer on 68 minutes after Limerick had hit a goal to come back into the game with Danny Neville hitting the net on 61 minutes to leave the home side just one behind.
