PwC GAA/GPA players of the month for July announced

Tipperary’s John McGrath and Kerry’s David Clifford are the July winners of the PwC GAA/GPA hurler and footballer of the Month while Dublin’s Kate Sullivan and Galway’s Aoife Donohue are named the PwC GPA Women’s Players of the Month for July/August.
PwC is a committed supporter of the Player of the Month awards, which recognise excellence in camogie, hurling, and football across both male and female competitions. The July and August awards reflect the outstanding individual performances showcased during the final phases of the 2025 All-Ireland Championships.
John McGrath scored 1-02 to help Tipperary defeat perennial rivals Kilkenny in this year’s All Ireland hurling semi-final. In the final, against a heavily favoured Cork team, McGrath’s contribution was again pivotal. The Loughmore-Castleiney man scored 2-02, including a stunning second goal as the Premier County won Liam MacCarthy for the first time since 2019. McGrath becomes the first Tipperary hurler to win the PwC GAA/GPA Award since his brother Noel won the accolade in August 2019 following that last championship victory.
A typically brilliant first half goal from David Clifford proved to be a crucial moment in the All-Ireland football semi-final against Tyrone, with Kerry’s talisman contributing 1-09 in all. Clifford’s shooting ability from the two-point arc was invaluable again as Kerry defeated Donegal in the final to secure their first All-Ireland since 2022. The Fossa man’s 9 points on the day helped him end the 2025 Championship as top scorer with a record tally of 8-62.
Kate Sullivan’s prolific scoring during the knockout stages of this year’s championship proved key to Dublin reclaiming the Brendan Martin Cup. Scoring 1-03 in the comprehensive quarter final victory over Cork, Sullivan provided 1-01 in a tighter semi-final against Galway that was only decided in extra time. In the All-Ireland final against Meath, a rematch of the Leinster Final, Sullivan added a further 4 points while also being the catalyst for much of Dublin’s impressive attacking play in a 2-16 to 0-10 win.
Aoife Donohue wins the PwC GPA Camogie Player of the Month award for July/August for the second successive year. There’s no doubt the Galway midfielder will cherish this year’s accolade more however, coming as it does off the back of an All-Ireland final victory over Cork at the second time of asking. After tasting defeat against the Rebels in 2024, a determined Donohue set the tone in this year’s final with the opening score of the game and delivered a phenomenal performance throughout the decider.
