For eight teams, the Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup is now simply knockout fare.
Those in Round 2A will get another opportunity, regardless of what happens during the next 48 hours.
So, the stakes are piled high for the colleges in Round 2B with four intriguing matches imminent.
Despite Matthew Whittaker's brilliance, TUS Midlands still suffered a defeat against a Keith Evans inspired MTU Kerry.
TUS Midlands host DKIT, who feature talented Monaghan forward Stephen Mooney.
ATU Galway, with Ryan Roche and Conor Reid prominent, produced a gritty display, but eventually lost to UCD in Belfield.
St Mary's, though, remain eager to make an impact in the competition. The Belfast outfit were narrowly defeated by a star studded Maynooth University. Following that defiant display, the Ranch will be looking to Shea McCann and Donal Gallagher for inspiration.
A Connacht derby beckons in Dangan as a Maurice Sheridan managed University of Galway welcome ATU Sligo.
Cillian Ó Curraoin and Mark McInerney are quality forwards for University of Galway, while Longford attacker Matthew Carey and Cian Keaney carry a potent threat for the visitors'.
Ulster University's panel is stocked with accomplished footballers so they'll be striving to respond against MTU Cork after losing the opening round against DCU Dóchas Eireann.
Ronan Burns, Lorcan McGarrity, and Gary Mohan are all involved for Ulster University, while MTU Cork will hope Zach McCarthy and Jack Dillon can impress once more.
UL's clash with DCU Dóchas Eireann promises to be revealing. David Power's panel includes Mayo's Frank Irwin and Cian McHale, who both excelled against MTU Cork.
DCU Dóchas Eireann were slick against Ulster University as Jack Tumulty, Luke Marren, and Lorcan O'Dell all starred.
The meeting of UCD and Maynooth University is another intriguing affair.
John Divilly brings plenty of expertise for UCD, who feature Theo Clancy, Niall Hurley, and Callum Bolton.
Conor Duke and Conor Gray were instrumental as Maynooth edged out St Mary's in a lively Round One game.
Darragh O'Connor and Keith Evans demonstrated their ability as MTU Kerry overcame TUS Midlands, but another tough test awaits against TU Dublin in Grangegorman.
Jordan Morris, Conor Fee, and Danny McCartan were influential figures in TU Dublin's success over DKIT.
