The Cork star received 2,965 votes on the GAA’s Official Instagram page which put him ahead of Galway’s Kieran Hanrahan (2,446) and Limerick’s Cathal O’Neill (2,071).

The Cork hurlers played with a lot of grit and guile when beating Kilkenny in UPMC Nowlan Park, no-one more so that corner-back Niall O’Leary who showed great tenacity to consistently win ball and clear his lines.
Kieran Hanrahan – Galway
Loughrea clubman Kieran Hanrahan excelled on his League debut for Galway in their win over Waterford. The tenacious corner-back won a lot of ball and put Galway on the front foot with his ability to bring it down the field at great pace.
Cathal O'Neill – Limerick
Cathal O’Neill was Limerick’s outstanding player in their victory over Offaly. He got on a huge amount of ball in the middle third and finished with a personal scoring tally of 1-1 from play.
