Micheál Donoghue is encouraged about the development of young players in Galway panel.
Saturday's convincing Leinster SHC win over Kilkenny at Pearse Stadium illustrated the promise of the emerging talent, who contributed to Galway's victory.
The Galway manager acknowledged the contribution made by the talented newcomers. "I've been saying it all year, the squad's gone through a fair transition," Donoghue remarked.
"The young fellas that have come in have just brought unbelievable energy to the whole group. Every night at training, it's really evident the energy that's there and the spirit they've forged together is really good.
"It's a big win, but the most important thing for us was to get two points for the first game and focus on the next one again."
Donoghue also highlighted the value of the connection being forged between the team and supporters in the west. "It's massive, it's absolutely massive," Donoghue responded.
"Down through the years, we'd always have commented on the connection the hurling team has with the supporters.
"It's not lost on us that we have to do our job. We have to bring it every day and bring a massive attitude and a bit of flair as well.
"I think we've done that so hopefully the crowd can continue to come with us and build with us as well."
A slick and skilful style has been adopted by Galway in 2026. "That's the key word 'patience' in it," Donoghue says.
"We're fortunate that with the forwards we have, we can rotate a good bit, and everyone is fairly comfortable inside in it.
"The lads are working really well with Frannie [Forde] on the pitch. It's maybe gone beyond its infancy but it's working very well. We know we can improve on it, and we have to improve on it and perfect it a bit more."
