Meath manager Robbie Brennan has confirmed that Ruairí Kinsella is an injury doubt for the Royals' Allianz Football League Division Two opener against Derry.

Talented Meath forward Kinsella has returned to light training ahead of the Croke Park clash, but might be unable figure in the game.

"I'd say it's a danger, he's rehabbing on the pitch so he's getting a bit of running done, but, it's going to be very, very tight for him to make it in time for round one," Brennan said at a media briefing on Wednesday.

"We're still hopeful. We're doing everything we can to try and get him out there, but I suppose the flip of that is it's only the first game of the season and how much do you really gamble in these kind of things?

"You just hold off and keep him until he's fully right. So, we just have to decide as that goes on next week."

Brennan also provided an update on a number of players, who missed the closing stages of the 2025 inter-county season. "Jack Flynn is back," Brennan remarked.

"Jack's been training away and you know he obviously got back a little bit sooner maybe than we had thought.

"He got back with the club towards the end of the season which was great so touch wood he's had no kind of reoccurrence.

"The others aren't back, Jack Kinlough is still in rehab and James Conlon is. Now they're rehabbing on the pitch but they're still in that RTP space, you know, return to play space.

"Ronan Jones is in the same position. Ronan hasn't seen any action with us yet. So, they're on that injured list and remain so for a while until they're ready to rock."
