Uachtarán CLG Jarlath Burns has extended the sympathies of the wider Association to the family and friends of the late RTÉ broadcaster Michael Lyster, whose death was announced on Sunday.

He said: “For so many, Michael was the point of contact to our games as the face of RTÉ’s Gaelic games programming over such a prolonged period of more than three decades.

“Over that time, he was a great constant- alongside the games themselves - facilitating so many discussions and debates about the games with a host of pundits and analysts.

"In an era before the large amount of live games that are the norm now, the Sunday Game was an integral part of the lives of GAA people, promoting our games, and Michael played a crucial role as the anchor of that institution in Irish life.

“On behalf of the Association we offer our sympathies to his wife Anne, children Mark, Jack, Ellen and Rebecca, his extended family and his wide circle of friends and admirers.”
