Hurlers from new clubs throughout the country attended the Joe McDonagh Cup and Leinster SHC Finals at Croke Park on Sunday.
Following on from the recent announcement of 45 clubs starting their hurling journey, the GAA was delighted to welcome over 30 of these clubs to Croke Park for the Leinster and Joe McDonagh Cup Finals.
It was clear to see the delight of those clubs in attendance who were able to make it onto the hallowed turf to celebrate their involvement in the Hurling Nua programme being rolled out in recent weeks.
National Head of Hurling William Maher was delighted to meet many of these clubs on Sunday alongside Uachtarán Jarlath Burns and HDC Chairperson Terry Reilly.
William Maher said: “In recent weeks many clubs have begun their nursery sessions with the first ever introduction to hurling for kids in their areas. It was great to meet the driving forces from these clubs, and we really appreciate the effort these clubs made to join us on Sunday and the assistance from Leinster GAA to make today happen.
"We had Uíbh Ráthach fly to Dublin such is the distance from South Kerry, clubs from North Donegal also joined us. We look forward to working with these clubs in the weeks and months ahead on their hurling journey. I’d like to thank our Coaching and Games colleagues in Provincial Councils and Counties in their ongoing commitment to growing the game of hurling."
