Higher Education Clubs offer students the opportunity to become involved as players, coaches and administrators as well as being a social outlet for students during their time on campus.
Participation in Higher Education
The GAA aims to provide participation opportunities to all Higher Education students to play in Gaelic games, including those that have no prior experience.
To this end Recreational versions of Hurling, Gaelic football, Handball and Rounders have been devised for social and recreational players and adapted to be easier to participate in and access.

Higher Education Competitions
The Fitzgibbon Cup (Hurling) and the Sigerson Cup (Gaelic football) are the premier Higher Education competitions and were established in 1912 and 1911 respectively. They consistently feature some of the best and up and coming stars of Inter-County teams and are renowned for the challenge they pose to spirit and skill being played to an intense finals weekend climax on soft pitches in early Spring.

Coaching & Administration
In many cases during their time in Higher Education students will for the first time consider getting involved as an administrator or coach with their HE Club or Home Club.

Comhairle Ardoideachais
Comhairle Ardoideachais CLG is the body responsible for the organisation and control of all Higher Education fixtures. It's aims are to further the aims of the Association in the Higher Education sector through the development, administration and promotion of Gaelic games and pastimes, to support the advancement of the Irish language and culture and to encourage students to experience and develop skills of leadership and administration with a view to their future contribution to the work of Cumann Lúthchleas Gael.
