Gearóid Hegarty voted GAA.ie Hurler of the Week

Limerick’s Gearóid Hegarty has been voted GAA.ie Hurler of the Week.

The powerful forward received 4,378 votes on the GAA’s Official Instagram page which put him ahead of Galway’s Ronan Glennon (4,222) and Clare's Peter Duggan (3,097).

Gearoid Hegarty – Limerick

When Limerick needed leaders in the second-half of their All-Ireland SHC semi-final victory over Clare, none stood taller than the towering Hegarty. His ability to win ball and draw fouls dragged Limerick back into the game and his use of possession was top class too.

Ronan Glennon – Galway

Ronan Glennon was outstanding at wing-back for Galway in Saturday’s All-Ireland SHC semi-final win over Cork. He scored three brilliant points from play and his defending was heroic.

Peter Duggan - Clare

Peter Duggan produced a warrior’s performance for Clare in their All-Ireland SHC semi-final defeat to Limerick. He scored three brilliant points, won the penalty that Tony Kelly converted, and was a hugely effective outlet for puck-outs throughout the game.
