GAA and RYPT announce partnership

The GAA and RYPT are proud to announce a new partnership that will see RYPT become a key player management software provider for the GAA. As part of this initiative, the GAA will provide this cutting-edge service free of charge to all county teams, reaffirming its ongoing commitment to player welfare, coach development, and the overall advancement of Gaelic Games.

This partnership supports the entire player development pathway, from grassroots to elite level, ensuring that coaches at all stages have the tools they need to enhance player welfare, reduce injury risk, and improve training outcomes. It also establishes a centralised platform for gathering performance, training load, well-being, medical, and maturation data — providing insights that will inform evidence-based practice and contribute to future research and coach education.

Over the past 18 months, a successful pilot project saw the collaboration between RYPT and the GAA expand significantly. The platform now supports 22 counties and more than 300 clubs, schools, and universities across male and female teams in the GAA, LGFA, and Camogie Association.

RYPT is an Enterprise Ireland-supported company and has been identified as a High Potential Start-up to drive its growth and international expansion. Their athletic development platform helps multidisciplinary coaching teams manage athletic programs at scale — from delivering individualised training plans to monitoring performance, athlete well-being, and injury management.

Michael Martin, Chairman of the GAA Games Development Committee, said: “This partnership represents a key step forward in how we support our players and coaches. Providing this resource free to county teams is an important service we can offer county teams helping them better manage training loads and well-being while collecting vital information to underpin research and evidence-based coach education for the future of Gaelic Games.

We’re delighted to be able to support the expansion of our partnership with RYPT by offering clubs who join the platform for the remainder of 2025 with a 10% discount. ”

Jarlath Burns, Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, added: “Player welfare is central to everything we do in the GAA. This partnership not only enhances the immediate care and development of our players but also contributes to a growing body of research and learning that will benefit coaches and athletes at every level. It’s an investment in the future of our games and our people.”

The collaboration will also focus on injury tracking and research to improve the understanding of the physical and performance demands of Gaelic Games, supporting the long-term development of evidence-led strategies for player and coach development.

“Our entire backroom team uses RYPT to drive standards across our player pathway, supporting schools, clubs, and county squads. It pulls our players' data from multiple sources to help us profile each player, manage injury risk, and improve performance.” Jason McGahan PhD , Kerry GAA High Performance Manager.
