A group of GAA and Croke Park staff will raise money for the Association’s four designated charity partners for 2024 when they undertake a cycle to Cavan this morning, Friday 26th of September.
The Croker to Breffni challenge will see 15 riders undertake the more than 125km route from GAA HQ to Breffni Park which is Ulster GAA’s first ever official ground, dating from 1923.
The event is the fifth GAA/Croke Park staff charity cycle since 2017, with well over €50,000 raised to date. The first cycle from Croke Park to Thurles in 2017 was followed by Rollin’ to Nowlan Park in Kilkenny in 2018, Croke Park to Carrick on Shannon in 2019 and then eight staff remotely completed a virtual 630km Malin to Mizen head using stationary turbo trainers during the Covid pandemic in 2020.
The four GAA charity partners for 2024 are Hugh’s House (who provide free accommodation for families who have sick children in hospital in Dublin), The Alzheimer Society of Ireland, Ruhama (tackling human trafficking, sexual exploitation and prostitution) and The Mater Hospital Foundation.
