Uachtarán CLG, Jarlath Burns, has issued a call to action for GAA members to make their voice heard via a new survey exploring attitudes to the amateur status of the Association.
Writing in his match programme notes for the All-Ireland football quarter-finals at Croke Park on Saturday and Sunday, the Uachtarán says that the GAA is defined by its amateur ethos and asks that "our values are not just remembered but renewed."
He writes: "The GAA has always been defined but its amateur ethos - a principle that places community, volunteerism, and pride in the jersey above all else. But like every living organisation, we must constantly examine how we live out our values in a changing world.
"That is why we have launched a major survey as part of the broader review of our amateur status, led by Professor David Hassan. This is not a symbolic exercise. It is an open and meaningful consultation that invites every member, player coach, official and supporter to have their voice heard.
"The survey explores key questions: Should we formalise a governance oversight unit? How do we fairly support our inter-county managers? Are our expense structures fit for purpose? These are real and pressing issues and affect the integrity and sustainability of our Association.
"As Uachtarán CLG, I urge you to taker the time to complete this survey. The future of the GAA's amateur model will not be decided in boardrooms alone - it will be shaped by the people who make the GAA what it is.
"Your voice matters. Your opinion counts. Together, let's ensure our values are not just remembered, but renewed."
