Ballygalget battled throughout a lively match, but Portaferry pulled clear in the last quarter.
Eoghan Sands' goal was a key score for Portaferry, who trailed by two against a determined Ballygalget at half-time.
Eoin Pucci struck a couple of goals for Ballygalget in the opening period, while Cathal Coleman netted a Portaferry penalty.
At the interval, Ballygalget were 2-6 to 1-7 ahead, but Portaferry responded in the second half.
Coleman, who finished with a 1-8 haul, was a key figure as Portaferry prevailed.
