Derry SFC Final

Newbridge 1-17 Magherafelt 1-15

Newbridge retained the Derry SFC title, following a hard earned win over Magherafelt at Celtic Park.

An early Callum McGrogan goal gave Newbridge a dream start, but Magherafelt were soon on level terms as Shane Heaveron drilled over a two point free.

Heaveron was prominent, netting in the ninth minute, but they still trailed at the interval, 1-6 to 1-5.

In the third quarter, though, Oisín Doherty and Padraig McGrogan supplied important points as the holders pulled five points clear.

Heaveron, who was excellent, and Dan Higgins responded with two pointers for a determined Magherafelt outfit.

The champions, though, stayed cool under pressure as Conor McAteer and Eamon Young contributed vital points as Newbridge prevailed.
