The Cork star received 6,914 votes on the GAA’s Official Instagram page which put him ahead of Kilkenny's Huw Lawlor (2,967) and Kildare's Jack Sheridan (2,632).

Under crushing pressure, Darragh Fitzgibbon stayed ice cool to land a pressure 65 at the end of an absorbing Munster SHC Final. Tireless and terrific, the Charleville clubman was immense for Pat Ryan's team throughout.
Huw Lawlor (Kilkenny)
A brilliant defensive display from Huw Lawlor was a key factor in Kilkenny making it six Leinster SHC titles in a row. The classy Cats full-back made some excellent fetches.
Jack Sheridan (Kildare)
Jack Sheridan starred in Kildare's Joe McDonagh Cup Final triumph over Laois at Croke Park. A potent threat, Sheridan struck 1-4 for Brian Dowling's rapidly improving team.
