Two important Gaelic games Coaching and Games Development events too place over consecutive weekends in March.

On Saturday, March 21st and Saturday, March 28th, Former Chairperson of the Coach Development Advisory Committee, Liam Moggan, facilitated the upskilling of 22 Coach Developer Assessors (CDAs) for a National panel.

This national panel of CDAs will be responsible for quality assurance and fundamentally supporting coach developers on the ground and visiting courses across the country.

There is a lot of activity in this space across the country and further afield.

Annually, approximately 14,000 participants engage in formal coach education across the Gaelic Games family. This activity is only possible by the expertise, passion and engagement of staff/volunteer coach developers across the country.

On Saturday, March 28th, Sport Ireland Coaching Education and Development Officer and Trainer for Coach Developers, Yvonne Byrne, facilitated the upskilling of 14 current GAA Trainer of Coach Developers.

This interactive session covered many topics such as clarity of the role of a Coach Developer, Coach Developer Assessor and Trainer of Coach Developer, Coach Developer Level 1 Course content, Google classroom and an overview of the new Trainer of Coach Developer Programme starting in April.

The Trainer of Coach Developer Programme will commence in April with 19 new Trainers commencing their journey to become Trainer of Coach Developers across the Gaelic Games Family.

The role of Trainer of Coach Developer is to train Coach Developers by virtue of the delivery of the Sport Ireland Coaching, CDPI Level 1 Coach Developer course, in accordance with the standards set (Coach Developer CD competencies) by Sport Ireland Coaching and by the Gaelic Games family.
