Coach Recognition Awards Programme launched
The Coach Recognition Awards Programme celebrates the vital role coaches play in nurturing players, strengthening communities, and promoting the values of Gaelic Games.
The National Games Development Committee is proud to announce the launch of its Coach Recognition Awards Programme, a nationwide initiative designed to celebrate the vital role coaches play in nurturing players, strengthening communities, and promoting the values of Gaelic Games.
Across every parish, pitch, and club, GAA coaches give their time, energy, and passion to help others develop – not only as players but as people. From under-7s to adult club teams, from urban clubs to rural communities, our coaches are volunteers, mentors, and leaders, and their impact goes far beyond the white lines.
"Our grassroots coaches are the heartbeat of the GAA," said Micheal Martin, Chairperson National Games
Development Committee.
"Coaches play a vital role in nurturing the next generation of talented players while ensuring every child — regardless of ability — has the chance to experience the joy of our games.
"Through this recognition scheme, we celebrate the dedication, empathy, and expertise of coaches at club and schools’ level who make a lasting impact both on and off the field — from developing future county stars to inspiring inclusion through programmes like our All-Star initiative for children with additional needs.”
The Coach Recognition Awards will honour coaches across a variety of categories, including:
• Overall Coach of the Year
• Nursery Coach of the Year
• Children’s Coach of the Year
• Club Coach of the Year
• Primary School Teacher of the Year
• Post Primary School Teacher of the Year
• Talent Academy Coach of the Year
• All Star Programme of the Year
The programme will highlight the values of respect, inclusion, development, and community spirit that define great coaching in the GAA.
Nominations open on Monday 13th of October and all members of the GAA family — players, parents, fellow coaches, officers, and supporters — are encouraged to put forward those who have made a meaningful difference in their club or county.
This new initiative is part of the Association’s ongoing commitment to developing coaching excellence, retaining passionate volunteers, and celebrating the human stories behind our games.
