Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael Jarlath Burns has expressed his sympathies and those of the Association to the family of Ciara Mageean after her passing this morning.
He said: “We are deeply saddened and moved to learn of Ciara’s passing following her brave battle with illness in recent months.
“We had the good fortune to host her in Croke Park at this year’s All-Ireland hurling final and her incredible spirit and the special place she occupied on the Irish sporting landscape was very obvious after the reception she received.
“Ciara and her family have strong links to Gaelic games and she was an incredible ambassador for camogie in particular and for Ireland as a whole.
“We pass on our condolences to her husband Thomas, parents Catherine and Christopher, siblings, wider family and her circle of friends of admirers, not least those in the Athletics family.”
