Centra to become title sponsor of Camogie Leagues
Centra has today announced a new partnership with the Camogie Association.
Centra, Ireland’s leading convenience retailer, has today announced a new partnership with the Camogie Association which will see Centra backing one of Ireland’s fastest-growing sports as the new title sponsor of the Centra Camogie Leagues. This exciting four-year deal is born from Centra’s belief in the skill, determination and passion of camogie players, coaches and volunteers and the desire to support the continued growth and development of the game across Ireland.
As the Camogie Leagues celebrate their 50th anniversary in 2026, Centra’s commitment as title sponsor will bring increased investment into the sport from elite to grassroots and boost visibility through their network of 500 stores nationwide and promotional activities. Tipperary, winners of the first ever League in 1976, will look to repeat that success in a highly competitive division 1A. Current title holders, Cork are the most decorated county with 17 League titles to their name, will begin their title defence with a first round match up against Waterford.
Speaking at the announcement, Rita Kirwan, Marketing Director at Musgrave, welcomed the new partnership with the Camogie Association. “Camogie is a unique Irish sport with incredibly dedicated players, passionate supporters and a deep connection to communities all over the country. The standard is truly elite, with speed, skill and intensity on display at every level. We’ve been proudly linked to hurling for years, but one important piece was missing - a strong, visible connection to the women’s game.
Women’s sport in Ireland is growing, with more supporters, more participation, and more young girls stepping onto the pitch every year. Through our network of over 500 Centra stores across Ireland, we’re proud to help shine an even brighter spotlight on camogie and support its continued growth nationwide. This sponsorship reflects our commitment to increasing visibility for Camogie, growing attendances at games, and helping to inspire greater participation among young girls, ensuring a strong future for the sport.”
Luke Hanlon, Managing Director of SuperValu and Centra also spoke about Centra’s pride in the new partnership. “We are looking forward to working closely with the Camogie Association over the next four years to bring the Centra Camogie Leagues to life. We’re excited to be involved in such a dynamic sport and with our extensive footprint in communities right across Ireland, we truly believe that where there’s camogie, there’s Centra, and where there’s Centra, there’s camogie.
By supporting a sport that plays such a vital role in communities across Ireland, we hope this partnership helps strengthen the game and inspire the next generation to get involved.”
Uachtarán an Chumann Camógaíochta, Brian Molloy, also welcomed the announcement. “The Camogie Association is delighted to welcome Centra as the new title sponsor of the Centra Camogie Leagues. Centra recognises the strength and quality of camogie and has shown a genuine passion for supporting Gaelic Games at every level. We look forward to working together to continue the growth and success of the game nationwide.”
