Being relegated back into the bottom tier on scoring difference was a disappointment for Carlow, who will be seeking to summon an instant response.

Turlough O'Brien's passion for the Carlow cause remains intact, though, and they will be eager to make home advantage count on Saturday evening against Wicklow.

Davy Burke has forged a promising managerial career with Wicklow his first job at senior inter-county level.

Silverware was collected by Burke with the Kildare Under 20s and Sarsfields so Wicklow will be hoping to make progress in the coming weeks and months.

Having gleaned the McGrath Cup Limerick enter the Allianz League confident under Billy Lee.

Danny Neville was in brilliant form against Cork for Limerick, while goalkeeper Donal O'Sullivan is a capable custodian.

New Wexford football manager Paul Galvin.

New Wexford football manager Paul Galvin.

Paul Galvin's arrival as Wexford boss is noteworthy with a demanding away fixture against Antrim first on the agenda.

The two teams had identical records in the 2019 League, winning three and losing four of their seven matches.

Attaining a better level of consistency will be key if a serious tilt at promotion is to be launched.

At Ruislip London will be managed by Michael Maher, who was a selector alongside Ciaran Deely last year.

Maher has carried out excellent work at underage level in London so is very familiar with the emerging talent coming through.

In recent years emphasis has been placed on building for a sustainable future, but London also want to pocket some scalps too.

Sligo, though, endured a wretched 2019 losing all nine League and Championship encounters. Paul Taylor's brief is to restore some hope and confidence.
