Buoyed up by splendid Semi-Final wins, Derry and Kerry enter this decider brimful of confidence.

Kerry are closing in on a fourth title in a row at this level, but they will be fully aware of the threat Derry carry.

Damian McErlain's excellent work with the Derry minors has been rewarded with the senior managerial role for 2018. There is hope in Derry attached to this exciting crop of footballers, who flourished on the Croke Park stage against Dublin.

Derry finished strongly in that encounter registering seven of the last nine points to secure a stirring victory. Lorcan McWilliams was sharp from frees throughoyt for Derry, while Patrick Quigg and Ben McCarron also contributed handsomely.

Callum Brown made a significant impact as a substitute and has the potential to trouble Kerry, who were too strong for Cavan The ultra promising David Clifford struck 1-10 for Kerry, who landed 2-22 during an excellent attacking display.

Jack Griffin, Brian Friel, and Fiachra Clifford were others to score for Peter Keane's charges.

Derry have contested the last three Ulster Minor deciders, winning two and are a capable outfit.

Kerry defeated Derry in the 2015 Semi-Final and 2016 Quarter-Final. Both teams and managements will be familiar with their respective strengths and weaknesses.

This should be an open and attractive encounter between two well drilled panels.
