Huge thanks to Damien and Connacht GAA for their continued support of the Hurling programme in New York.
Damien took a training session with the Feile Hurling team at Randall’s Island on Thursday evening . This also was a coaching workshop in which Damien focused on small sided gamed to improve player’s decision making , both players and coaches feedback from the session was extremely positive. Damien has been a huge part in the process of being able to bring this team to Ireland to compete in the Connacht Hurling Feile and the management and kids are looking forward to playing at the Connacht Centre of excellence in Ballyhaunis on June 30TH
New York GAA – Brendan Keane Hurling 7’s
The 2017 Brendan Keane 7 aside competition took place on Saturday the 27th of May. Overall 14 teams took part in the competition at different grades from Senior down to Junior B as well as Camogie.
The Junior B final had Rockland against rivals Le Cheile. In an entertaining final it was the Bronx based Le Cheile team that won the title. A great standard of Hurling was seen in the junior B section in which all the players are American born.
The Junior A final was a great game between NY Ulster and NY Westmeath. In a competitive game it was Westmeath who took the Junior A Cup , and will be looking to do the same for the Championship in the upcoming months .
The Camogie final was between Liberty Gaels of New York against Ardrahan of Galway. The Galway girls produced an exhibition of Camogie to win the cup.
The senior final was between NY Ulster and Father Toms of Boston. In a skillful and fast final it was the Boston team that took the cup home despite a great performance for the Ulster club.
