Wexford have qualified for the Bord na Móna Walsh Cup semi-final after a three-point win over Dublin.

Davy Fitzgerald's team grabbed the initiative in the first-half thanks to a Podge Doran goal and led by 1-11 to 0-9 at the break.

But Dublin’s young side showed a lot of heart in the second-half and drew level at 1-14 to 0-17 as Niall McMorrow, Ryan O’Dwyer and substitute Donal Burke impressing in attack.

Wexford finished the stronger though and two points from Lee Chin and one from Richie Kehoe sealed a win that sets up a clash with either Kilkenny or Westmeath in the semi-final.

In tonight’s other hurling match, Trinity College proved too strong for DCU St. Pat’s, running out 1-17 to 1-12 victors.

In the night’s only football match, NUIG defeated IT Sligo by 2-14 to 2-12 in Round 3 of the FBD Connacht Senior Football League. Galway county star Damien Comer was the hero, netting the winning goal in injury-time.
