Super 11s Hurling returns to Boston on Sunday with three matches scheduled for Fenway Park.

Pat Gilroy has recently taken charge of Dublin and his management team features former Galway boss Anthony Cunningham.

That adds another interesting sub plot to the Dublin and Galway clash. It was those two teams, who served up an entertaining encounter in 2015 with the Tribesmen prevailing.

The current campaign has been loaded with success for Galway, who claimed Allianz Hurling League, Leinster and All Ireland glory.

Gilroy's arrival as Dublin manager has brought a sense of anticipation to the capital, especially now that Danny Sutcliffe will return to action in a sky blue shirt.

Several promising youngsters have sampled action during the past couple of years so it will be interesting to see how Dublin prepare for the Allianz Hurling League which commences at the end of January.

Galway enjoyed their trip to the United States two years ago and while club commitments rule out some panelists they still will field a formidable team.

Tipperary and Clare are involved in the second tussle in Boston. Under Donal Moloney and Gerry O'Connor Clare showed flickers of class in 2017, but they want to be serious competitors for All Ireland honours once more.

Tipperary are expected to mix youth with experience in the competition. Michael Ryan's charges were beaten by Galway in an absorbing August epic when Joe Canning rifled over a point for the ages. It was a defining moment in the hurling year.

Each team in the AIG Fenway Hurling Classic 2017 will have 11 players. Unlimited substitutions are allowed from the substitution zones at the side of the field. There will be two semi-finals with the winners meeting in the final for the Players Champions Cup. In the event of a tie there will be a penalty shootout where each team will alternate five penalty pucks. If one team is not ahead on goals after these five penalty pucks, each team shall take a further one penalty each, repeated until only one team scores. All games will consist of two 20 minute halves and will be officiated by a referee assisted by a Line Official, Clock Official and Television Match Official.

Three points are scored when struck from inside the defensive zone (20 yards from each goal) and five for a goal struck from outside.

Shot Clock - Once possession is gained, a team has 30 seconds for to attempt a goal. This is, reduced to 20 seconds for the last two minutes of each period.

Sin Bin and Dismissal - Depending on the severity of a foul a player can be sin-binned for two minutes or dismissed from the game with no substitute in either event.
