Kilkenny edge out Offaly in Walsh Cup semi-final

Bord na Móna Walsh Cup semi-final

KILKENNY 1-20 OFFALY 3-11

A strong second-half performance from Kilkenny was enough to see them past the stubborn challenge of Offaly in today’s Bord na Móna Walsh Cup semi-final in Tullamore.

The Faithful County were the better team for much of the first half, and took an early three-point lead thanks to a Conor Mahon goal.

But the Cats struck back with a goal of their own after 30 minutes and by half-time trailed by a single point, 1-10 to 1-9.

Kilkenny were the slicker team in the second-half but goals from Shane Dooley and Shane Kinsella kept Offaly in the hunt.

The Cats weren’t to be denied though, and two late points from Alan Murphy sealed the win after what was a highly competitive encounter.
