Galway captain David Burke has been voted GAA.ie Hurler of the Week.

The St Thomas' star scored four points for Galway, who claimed All Ireland glory at Croke Park.

Burke earned 3276 votes on the GAA’s Official Twitter (@officialgaa), Facebook, and Instagram pages with colleague Gearoid McInerney second and Waterford's Jamie Barron third.

GAA.ie Hurler of the Week

1: David Burke (Galway) - 3,276 votes (41%)

2: Gearoid McInerney (Galway) - 2,708 votes (34%)

3: Jamie Barron (Waterford) - 2,049 votes (25%)

Galway captain David Burke led by example drilling four important points for the Tribesmen.

The St Thomas' clubman contributed vital scores, especially in the second period when Galway finished strongly.

Burke has been a consistent performer for Galway and fittingly lifted the Liam MacCarthy Cup following a dramatic win.

Gearoid McInerney maintained his brilliant form with a powerful performance against Waterford.

The Oranmore-Maree centre back dealt adequately with Waterford star Austin Gleeson as Galway reclaimed the Liam MacCarthy Cup.

McInerney, so impressive against Tipperary, was a key figure for the Tribesmen once again at Croke Park.

Energetic midfielder Jamie Barron was outstanding for Waterford.

Barron, who was ill last week, delivered a typically industrious display for the Deise, who battled bravely throughout.

The Fourmilewater clubman is regarded as one of the most effective midfielders in the game.
