Clare hurler Brendan Bugler has announced his retirement from inter-county action.

The Whitegate clubman made his Banner debut in 2007 and operated at the highest level for 11 years. Bugler was a key figure when Clare won an All Ireland title in 2013.

In 2016 Bugler was part of Clare's Allianz Hurling League victory, while his displays in 2012 and 2013 were rewarded with GPA/GAA All Stars.

"I wish to confirm that I am retiring from inter-county hurling with Clare," Bugler said in a statement. "Thank you to everyone who has helped me on my journey along the way.

"I would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank my family and friends, teammates  and management teams in Whitegate, Scariff Community College, University of Limerick and Clare."
