A tight encounter at New Ross eventually ended with a Kilkenny victory over Wexford.

Brian Cody's team led by 0-7 to 0-4 at the break against the spirited hosts, who battled well throughout.

It was similarly tight after the restart with Alan Murphy supplying the late free to send Kilkenny through to next weekend's decider against Galway.

Murphy was accurate for Kilkenny, who were pegged back by a Lee Chin inspired Wexford in the closing stages. Kilkenny hit the front again, though, late on courtesy of a sharp free from Murphy, who scored 0-10.
