Allianz Hurling League Division 1B
Offaly 1-21 Kerry 2-16
Offaly registered their first win of the League campaign and in the process sealed a quarter-final tie with Tipperary thanks to this two-point victory over Kerry.
The Midlanders had the wind at their backs in the first-half but found themselves in arrears when a Padraig Boyle goal pushed Kerry 1-4 to 0-5 ahead.
The home team suffered a serious blow just before half-time though when John Buckley was red-carded, and by the break Offaly were leading by 0-15 to 1-9.
Kerry battled hard in the second-half and point from Boyle had them level by the 44th minute.
But a Stephen Quirke goal gave Offaly the impetus they so badly needed, and the longer the second-half went on the more their numerical advantage told.
Kerry did give Offaly a fright with a late Shane Nolan goal, but the final whistle blew in Austin Stack Park shortly afterwards.
