The Wicklow minor footballers have progressed to the Electric Ireland Leinster minor football semi-final at the expense of reigning champions Dublin.

The semi-finals of the Electric Ireland Leinster Minor Football Championship semi-finals are now set in stone after tonight's final round of group matches.

Kildare will play Wicklow in Newbridge and Laois will play Meath in Portlaoise with both matches taking place this Saturday at noon.

Two matches were particularly pivotal this evening in terms of deciding the semi-final pairings.

Wicklow defeated Meath 1-10 to 1-8 courtesy of two late points from Eoin Darcy and Matthew Ging to ensure they progressed from Group 1 with the Royals at the expense of reigning champions Dublin.

It was a hard-fought battle against the previously unbeaten Royals, and a fine second-half goal from Oisin Cullen proved vital for Wicklow.

In Group 2, Kildare's nine point victory saw them top the table with four wins from four and also ensured that Laois rather than Longford would join them in the Leinster semi-finals.
