Munster GAA McGrath Cup Final

CORK 3-13 CLARE 3-12

Cork’s Stephen Sherlock broke Clare hearts when he struck for an injury-time winning goal that handed the McGrath Cup to the Rebels.

It was Sherlock’s second goal of the match and was a cruel blow for a Clare team that had fought back valiantly from a 10 point deficit in the first half to go two clear by the end of normal time.

Cork had started the game brightly with goals from Mark Collins and Sherlock and were 2-8 to 0-4 ahead late in the half before Keelan Sexton hit a badly needed goal for Clare just before the break.

The Banner played some lovely football in the second-half and drew level after scoring an unanswered 1-4 with the goal coming from Alan Sweeney.

Another Clare goal from Gearoid O’Brien pushed Colm Collins' team into the lead and they looked set for an impressive come-from-behind victory until Sherlock’s late, late show.
