AIB Ulster Club SFC Final

Slaughtneil (Derry) v Cavan Gaels (Cavan), Athletic Grounds, 3pm

With two of the last three Ulster Football titles pocketed Slaughtneil certainly know how to win these type of matches.

Mickey Moran's shrewd sideline guidance has steered Slaughtneil to a couple of All Ireland Club Finals.

Slaughtneil won't rest easy until St Patrick's Day success has been sampled, but they are wily enough to know that Cavan Gaels are dangerous foes on Sunday.

The Gaels bagged five goals in their Semi-Final replay triumph over Derrygonnelly Harps. Paul O'Connor finished that match with a hat-trick, the accomplished Seanie Johnston mined 1-4.

Slaughtneil, though, were able to find the requisite answers when Kilcar posed stern questions. With nine different scorers on that evening, Slaughtneil coped well when Cormac O'Doherty was forced off with an injury.

Brendan Rogers, Karl McKaigue, Chrissy McKaigue, Shane McGuigan, and Christopher Bradley are proven operators for Slaughtneil.

Retaining the provincial crown would be a significant achievement for Slaughtneil, but the Gaels have won 10 Cavan Championships in 16 years and are worthy of the utmost respect.
