Galway's Peter Cooke has been voted GAA.ie Footballer of the Week.

Moycullen clubman Cooke kicked five points during Galway's dramatic EirGrid Under 21 All Ireland Semi-Final success over Kerry at Cusack Park, Ennis.

Cooke earned 463 votes on the GAA's  Official Twitter (@officialgaa), Facebook, and Instagram pages with Dublin's Brian Howard second and Aaron Byrne third.

GAA.ie Footballer of the Week

1: Peter Cooke (Galway) - 463 (53%)

2: Brian Howard (Dublin) - 308 (35%)

3: Aaron Byrne (Dublin) - 107 (12%)

Galway had several outstanding individual performances in Saturday's success over Kerry, but Peter Cooke excelled at centrefield.

With partner Cein D'arcy also hugely industrious Galway stunned Kerry in Ennis.

Cooke, one of three Moycullen players in the Galway line-up, kicked five points, including two splendid efforts from play.

Highly effective throughout Saturday's All Ireland Semi-Final win, Brian Howard is viewed as an exciting prospect in the capital.

Capable of winning possession and using it wisely Howard helped Dublin make a solid start against the Ulster champions at Kingspan Breffni Park.

When Donegal started to improve in the third quarter Howard was a significant influence as Dublin regained the initiative.

Aaron Byrne has been one of the stars in Dublin's march to the All Ireland Final.

The impressive Byrne registered four points in the victory over Donegal.

Byrne hit the same tally in the Leinster decider triumph against Offaly and is very much a footballer in form.
