A dramatic encounter at Kiltoom ended in a welter of excitement as Mayo stayed a late rally to defeat Roscommon.

Despite the loss Kevin McStay's team will stay face Galway in next weekend's decider at a Roscommon venue.

Andy Moran made a stunning impact following his introduction grabbing two goals for Stephen Rochford's team.

Mayo trailed by eight points, 2-16 to 1-11, but goals from Cillian O'Connor (penalty) and Moran sealed a stirring comeback.

Enda Smith and Liam Irwin traded opening period goals as the visitors were 1-9 to 1-8 ahead at the turnaround.

A second Smith goal helped Roscommon to edge in front once more, but Mayo came thundering back late on.

First half goals from Niall Murphy and Mark Breheny were the key scores as Sligo defeated Leitrim at Tourlestrane.

Niall Carew's outfit were 2-12 to 0-6 ahead at the interval following a solid opening period from the home team.

In the closing stages points from the impressive Keith Beirne and Emlyn Mulligan brought Leitrim back into contention, but Sligo held out.
