GAA.ie Footballer of the Week Aidan O Shea.

Mayo's Aidan O'Shea has been voted GAA.ie Footballer of the Week.

Breaffy clubman O'Shea inspired Mayo to victory over Down in Saturday's Round 2A Qualifier at Elverys MacHale Park.

O'Shea earned 5546 votes on the GAA's Official Twitter (@officialgaa), Facebook, and Instagram pages with Kerry's James O'Donoghue second and Clare's Eoin Cleary third.

GAA.ie Footballer of the Week

1: Aidan O'Shea (Mayo) - 5546 votes (44%)

2: James O'Donoghue (Kerry) - 4649 votes (37%)

3: Eoin Cleary (Clare) - 2361 votes (19%)

When Mayo required leadership in demanding circumstances on Saturday Aidan O'Shea was able to deliver.

O'Shea constantly hurt Derry during a frenetic Qualifier that went the distance at Elverys MacHale Park.

The Breaffy clubman kicked a late point, but he earned several frees allowing Cillian O'Connor to convert.

James O'Donoghue enjoyed a hugely productive two outings in the Munster Senior Football Championship.

The prolific O'Donoghue has made a welcome return to fitness and form scoring 0-16 in Kerry's wins over Clare and Cork.

On Sunday O'Donoghue was excellent for Eamonn Fitzmaurice's team hitting seven points for a dominant Kingdom.

Eoin Cleary is an accomplished finisher and his nine point haul decorated a fine Clare performance against Laois.

Colm Collins' charges have made significant progress in the past 18 months with Cleary an influential figure.

Cleary struck three points from play and also contributed handsomely nailing frees and 45s.
